I thought I would change it up for a bit this entry. My friend Brian Rothenbeck is arguably the king of the mix tape and recently we’ve been talking about the dying art of it, especially in regards to romance. Music, in some form or fashion, has always been such an integral part of my life. It’s so often a way to express things in an eluding way, without having to be too literal or obvious.
Being on the receiving end of a mix-tape is definitely a wonderful experience. Knowing that someone took the time and the effort to craft something especially for you, well, it’s an incredible feeling. I encourage everyone to do it at least once, or do it now. It’s one of those times that you get a free pass for being a little over-the-top and cheesy.
Norwegian Fanzine Alt Opptatt invited me to put together a mix tape of songs that remind me of someone, so I did. Thankfully they didn’t ask me to explain them or who they were for, but it’s been my project tonight, so enjoy! Also, feel free to chime in with songs that warm your heart as well.
